Ron and Sue Bridgemon have been leading eco-adventure tours into Mexico for over 12 yearsThese trips have primarily been to Mata Ortiz, Alamos, and Copper CanyonIn 1991 they helped to organize and lead a multi-discipline research project that studied the area near Cerocahui so they are intimately familiar with barranca (canyon) countryWhen not taking groups into Copper Canyon, they often spend their vacations exploring remote sections of the region. They know the people of Mata Ortiz well, having been involved in local weddings, graduations, and other celebrationsThey are building a small house in the village. The Bridgemons have been providing naturalist activities at Tucson’s Tanque Verde Ranch for five yearsThey are also the naturalists for the Lazy K Bar Ranch where they give basic mountaineering lessons and lead hikes and nature walks. They teach country-western dance lessons at both ranches. Professionally, Ron Bridgemon is a forensic scientist and retired as Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s crime laboratory in TucsonAs an avid outdoor enthusiast and cave explorer, Ron has been exploring Mexico since the mid-1960sHe is a past president of the Cave Research Foundation and has organized and led major exploration/research projects in the U.S., Mexico, and ChinaHe served as president of the group that conducted the environmental studies of Kartchner Caverns for Arizona State ParksRon has also worked as an interpreter/guide for the National Park Service. Sue Bridgemon is working part time as a travel agent and is a docent at the Arizona-Sonora Desert MuseumShe has been doing both of these activities for over twelve years.
