Road Log
Chinipas, Chihuahua,
to
Alamos, Sonora

This log covers the dirt road from Chinipas to Alamos, the climb out of the Chinipas Canyon is especially steep with tight curves. There are few services along the road in case of problem. The ford across the Rio Chinipas is not passable during high water.

A foot suspension bridge above town is wide enough for walking dual-sport motorcycles across but nothing larger, including ATVs.  We made the run to Alamos in 4.5 hours on ATVs including a 30 minute lunch stop. Add another 1.5-2 hours for trucks and SUVs, more time if you are running in a group or moving leisurely. This is a beautiful, but challenging, run. However, the arrival in Alamos made everything worthwhile when we sat down at a sidewalk cafe to eat shrimp and guzzle cold brews while watching the señoritas stroll the plaza!
