Los Alisos to Los Terreros

From Los Alisos, the trail climbs steeply past Pandito, a small ranchito with only one building,  until abruptly reaching the lowest point of the rim country. After passing Pandito, go several minutes then take a left at the trail junction and go uphill. The views are outstanding to say the least! After topping out, a 20-30 minute hike takes you to the ranchito Yeska, be careful here as there are 5 trails coming together in a short distance, you will be going on a less traveled trail. The high country passes through the old-growth forest on the east side. After crossing Arroyo San Fernando, once arriving at the tehaban, (small shelters), a quick descent takes you down to Los Terreros rancho owned by Emilio Cervantes, you find it by taking a nondescript trail to the right just after passing through the only gate on the descending trail. Emilio welcomes campers and it is a beautiful place with a dramatic overlook of the Munerachi Canyon, Just be certain to establish the price before camping, he has been known to overcharge. Cautions: this trail offers few water sources. Except during the driest months, one can usually find water in the stream after topping out, near Yesca, and upstream from the crossing of Arroyo San Fernando. There is a beautiful overlook at Pandito but be a bit cautious when you go there, take no pictures, and don't ask why not.
