Go
Straight (keep slightly to left). The next two right turns enter
town of Cieniguita, the road then continues onto Reforma and to the
Huites dam where a ferry may be operational to transfer vehicles
across the dam to the road continuing to El Fuerte |

Pueblo of Piedras Verdes with several small stores. You will come to
a downhill intersection with a crossroads and perhaps one other road
entering, just keep going straight and downhill. Gasoline is often
available just past the intersection at the store on the right.

Operational lead and zinc mine at Piedras Verdes, worth stopping and
taking a look at the famous green rocks. Pass through the mine area
and keep to the right taking the road which goes steeply downhill.
After about 500 feet go straight at a major intersection. Do not go
to right, several miles down is another new intersection, continue
straight here as well--even though the natural inclination is to go
right. |

Both
left turns go to the large gold mine at Sauzal, this mine is heavily
protected with armed guards. During good weather you may be able to
pass through the mine area and take a river road that eventually
leads to Batopilas. |

Entering Casa Colorado go straight, do not take the road merging
from the left leg of the “Y”. At Casa Colorado and Tubares, is the
site of a well known 17th century mission that attended the Tubar
Indians. Although in ruins, the mission is worth visiting. The
Sauzal mine has constructed a bridge over the Rio Fuerte and the new
road to Chiox. |

Realito,
a former mining town. Ruins of the town church are worth visiting.
It was built by the miner and tierrateniente Bernardo Garcia and
dedicated to his patron saint, San Bernado in July 1901, in time for
the saint's day on 20 August. Garcia once owned all the land from
Realito to Descanso on the Chihuahua Pacific Railroad. People who
worked on this land had to pay him rent. He was a shareholder in the
famous Lluvia de Oro (Rain of Gold) mine.
