The following letter (Carta) written by Padre Andres Lara to his supervisor in Mexico City details some of the conflicts faced with the local parroquia priest. But more importantly it contains a drawing showing the placement of the painted glass windows to that the spring and summer morning sun would illuminate the window showing San Francisco as a young student talking with San Ignacio Loyola who is convincing him to join the newly-founded Jesuit Order. The winter sun illuminates the window depicting him on his deathbed on the Chinese island of Sangchuan, 14 km from the southern coast of mainland China,
