The Hotel Paraiso del Oso does vehicle tours the way they should be done, with friendly local guides who have a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. With decade-long friendships in the area and a wealth of community services, we and our guests are welcome everywhere. Tour with us and you may get a chance to visit with Sedillo, a local rancher we often give a ride to. The local priests may want to visit about various projects, and Tarahumara Indians are often not only our friends but compadres and comadres as well. So be prepared to experience an in-depth tour offered nowhere else, perhaps it is really not a tour, it is more like a visiting with friends or relatives and having them show you around. Our two most popular tours are on these pages. The Cerro Gallegos tour includes a visit to Cerocahui with informative talks on both town and church history and a visit to the Tarahumara girl's boarding school followed by a drive to the most beautiful of all Copper Canyon lookouts. For the adventurous, the Urique tour descends over a mile deep into the county seat of Urique in the bottom of the Canyon. While other hotel take a sack lunch, our guests enjoy a hot meal with a pleasant surroundings in a small restaurant we have been using for over 20 years. Frequently the owners sit and visit with guests, after all the owners of the Oso were padrinos when their daughter was married and they all cooperate on many community projects. Should you want something more, we can plan other trips including an all-day drive from the Hotel to El Fuerte or even Batopilas.
