Urique to Los Alisos

Leaving Urique, the trail follows the riverbed and meanders toward Guapalaina on a dirt road.  This is the last call for a soft drink before heading into the high country. The road continues to a new (2003) suspension foot-bridge across the Rio Urique just before La Laja. Near the bridge are several swimming holes. After that, the trail climbs steeply and relentlessly to the ghost town of Los Alisos. Our Los Alisos campground features running water (be sure to purify), a cabin, all the grapefruit you can pick and eat, and a chance to relax. The 50 peso fee goes to our neighbor Prospero Torres who takes care of the property and is a charming host, enjoy...
