Trail Maps The maps above are part of our routes through the towns and back country regions we visit in our travels. Trails from actual trips are superimposed on topographic maps. Note that distances can be deceiving where large changes in elevation are involved. The trails were not laid out with recreational hiking in mind! Maps are presented for travel from Urique to Los Alisos, Los Alisos to Terreros, and Terreros to Batopilas. A hyperlink links each map to a larger resolution copy. Do not use these maps for navigating in the back country. Unlike many other places, the trails are not marked or signed in any way. These trails exist because people need to get from one place to another and not for recreation. Private property rights are strongly respected. Water is scarce to non-existent and may be on private property. Local knowledge is necessary! If you want to travel on your own, stop by and chat with us - we'll help out. The satellite image gives an overall view of our area starting from above Creel to past Batopilas and below the Rio Fuerte. The low-resolution image shows an overall view. The high-resolution image shows the same area with the train route, local roads, and back-country trails visible This is a work-in-progress and will be added to as time and resources allow.
